Massage Exhibition

The goal of this massage exhibition is to help therapists develop their skills, receive honest feedback, and enrich their career. We want to help our fellow massage therapists thrive, to live their greatest life and achieve their dreams.

What is the Jennifer Brand Massage Exhibition? This is an online event where each participant submits a 60-minute point of view (POV) video of their massage to be critiqued. The submission must be POV because we want to show off your best work. Many massage videos are from a stationary camera, which fails to show how a therapist is performing their techniques.

What are the therapists judged on in this exhibition? The categories of this event are Balance, Harmony, Pattern, and Variety.

How is this exhibition different than other massage competitions? This is not a winner takes all type of event. Several massages therapists can receive awards based on their performance. Instead of offering medals, we provide trophies and plaques that you can place in your treatment and spa.

Our exhibition is online; this allows each judge to offer you their undivided attention. They are not looking for ways that you are exceptional, innovative, or different. Their goal is to assess the technical components of your massage. Do you create patterns with your techniques that a client could follow? Is each side of the body massaged in a balanced way? Are your techniques used in harmony with each other? How much variety do you have throughout your session?

In most massage competitions, judges walk the floor watching several people at once. This opens the door for them to miss many of the details that might highlight how magnificent your massage may be. Each judge critiques our online massage exhibition from the comfort of their own computer. Instead of giving you points for doing something correct or good, they begin their assessment assuming you are going to perform the perfect technical massage.

Instead of tallying each interesting thing you do, they are watching for what you don’t do. When they see something, then they note the time and continue watching. Then, when it comes time to give you the final score of your submission they must validate it with the other judge who is reviewing your performance. If both judges do not agree that it is a point loss, then it is not held against you. If the point loss is agreed upon by both judges, the reason the point loss is noted for you to review when you read your score.

How can a massage therapist record this video? The video recording can be performed using a cell phone and a head strap. We will provide information to help you record it yourself. All videos will be submitted on YouTube, then the winners will be reuploaded on the Jennifer Brand YouTube page.
