Poems About Life

Poem: Let Go of Destiny & Fate

Often times, we read or hear that by being an independent person we “can take charge of our destiny”. But can we?

  • Destiny– events that will happen; the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future; fate.
  • Fate– the development of events beyond a person’s control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power.
  • Take charge– assume control or responsibility.

If we are to believe in fate or destiny, the most we can do to take charge of our existence, as an independent person, is to assume responsibility for what a supernatural entity has decided for us. Due to the nature of destiny, and its definition, it is something we do not decide or create.

Perhaps, instead of reaching for an impossible goal, we should be searching for ways we can take charge of our own discipline, order and kindness.

What are some behaviors you can change today that could lead to more peace tomorrow? Evaluate the people in your life, in what ways do their actions and lifestyle affect yours? Ask yourself if they are enriching your existence in a significant way. Search for the ways in which you are wasting your time that have caused you to be unprepared in critically important moments.

Look at how you treat people in your life. How often do you put your wants and feelings before the needs of others? How important is it for your friends to mirror your thoughts and beliefs, do you expect them to ally with you in all things? Are you angered when they do not want to participate in your causes? As you reflect, be honest with yourself so you may discover the degree you desire others to believe how you want them to think.

We cannot control the outcome of anything, we can only influence it by how we live our lives. When we live an existence obsessed with ourselves, it causes us to draw inwardly. It increases the intensity of our aloneness, loneliness and the permeating presence of feeling unloved.

We are beings of community; we were created to be in the service of others and to be reliant on others. When we search for ways to be pathologically independent, we rob ourselves of the most beautiful blessings. We can be productive leaders and helpers without having to slice ourselves from the natural order of life. When we actively pursue the enrichment of our communities with love, order and kindness, it encourages us to no longer desire the waywardness of wanting to be independent in all things. As a result, it cures us of our misleading need to take charge over our alleged destiny.

Poems about Life: Pray for Guidance & Strength

When something needs to be done, it doesn’t matter if you don’t want to do it. Peace is found within order, and order must be made, cultivated and maintained. Need comes before want, because if we followed all of our wants our home would be chaos and decay. The world has taught us that our feelings are the most important part of the day, but when we focus only on our heart, we walk the path of wickedness and pain. If you want to live a good life, you need to let go of the waywardness of your ways. You must pray for guidance and strength to do the things that need to be done every day.
