Licensed Massage Therapist

Massage is a wonderful experience and it can be a beautiful addition to anyone’s wellness toolkit.  Though valuable it is important to remember it has limitations.  Every licensed massage therapist has a scope of practice, this is a firm rule set that describes what we as therapists can and cannot do as professionals.  Each state has a governing body that oversees the activities of massage therapy.  In Missouri it is the Board of Therapeutic Massage.  Every massage therapist is required to have received extensive education, hands on training, passed a licensing exam and background check to legally practice.  To maintain our professional license we are required to continually update our knowledge with continuing education classes and research.

At JB Spa we believe education, communication, empathy and practice are the cornerstones of an excellent massage therapist.  We must continually improve our understanding of the human body and pain theory to ensure you receive the highest quality massage every time you visit.   Our therapists must have the tools to effectively listen and communicate, this is achieved through role-playing and discussion.  Critical thought and intellectual empathy are invaluable tools in this profession.  Our team must have the ability to see the world through another person’s lens, especially when they are attempting to address their pain.  One of the best ways to help someone feel better through massage is to first shadow-feel their pain then use your imagination to explore the best way to alleviate it.  All of the data in the world means nothing if you don’t know how to apply it.  This is where practice comes into play.  Our therapists are encouraged to trade massages with other therapists to help them remember the beautiful benefits of massage while assisting them in their exploration of their career.  The practice of our therapists increases you overall satisfaction by making sure they are on their A-game when you pay for their services.

With JB Spa on your team you will achieve the highest quality of life you can.  This because we genuinely care about how you feel and want to help you receive the your most appropriate care.  As licensed massage therapists we can educate and open doorways for you, but we cannot diagnose or prescribe like a doctor or nurse practitioner can.

This is important for you to know because there is a limit to the benefit of massage.  If we believe you require assistance from someone more specialized and educated than us we will refer you to someone capable of meeting your needs.  We specialize in helping people make the most of their moments, the best way to achieve this is by being fair, honest and transparent; by doing this we always put your health and safety first.
